DEHOFI was able to replace Rosemary’s steps and give her the freedom to come and go as she pleases. When the project was complete, she opened the door and wept uncontrollably out of happiness and gratitude.
A 71-year-old senior homeowner received a Citation from the City of Wilmington’s Department of Licenses and Inspections for repairs – replace back door and paint exterior wood surfaces. The senior lacked the finances to make the repairs and received a notice for a City arraignment, trial, suspension of his driving privileges, and/or arrest.
The home where Mrs. Coverdale raised her four children was in dire need of replacing deteriorated and unsafe brick steps in the front. DEHOFI, with support from donors like you, quickly brought a contractor onsite to replace the front steps with a new and structurally sound set of brick steps to match the existing exterior of the house.
DEHOFI was called out because Mrs. Smiley’s house was in need of repair. Her porch roof was leaking. Her front storm door wouldn’t lock. She needed a hand railing for her front steps. The siding on the house was coming loose in several locations. She lives alone and is not able to do the necessary repairs.
Mrs. Edwards was in need of a new roof and gutters and had a rear porch that needed structural support, new steps and railing. With support from donors like you, DEHOFI was able to quickly assess these issues and take swift corrective action to address the hazardous conditions. Mrs. Edwards is enjoying the new found safety in her home!
Mrs. Williams had noticed her floor becoming unstable. Her biggest concern was the front bedroom where her grandson would sleep. As part of this project, the beams under the floor were replaced which enabled the floors to also be replaced and become stable, creating a safe living environment for Mrs. Williams.
DEHOFI installed a new front and back door at Mrs. Hudsons home, rebuilt the kitchen floor and made various safety repairs to ensure that Mrs. Hudson can sustain homeownership comfortably and well into the foreseeable future.
Mrs. Crosby recently had surgery and was essentially home bound. She has been living without any heat other than a small portable heater and the occasional warmth from the stove burners. Our strategic partners at Ingelside were contacted and immediately met with Mrs. Crosby, assessed her needs, and in turn reached HVAC specialists out to DEHOFI to spearhead a quick response.
First time homebuyers Levi and Sheree were excited to be living the dream of home ownership. That is until they discovered that the basement of their new home had significant leakage and water damage. There was no way they could afford the cost of such repairs and they thought they had nowhere to turn.
The rear portion of Mr. Tate’s home was deteriorating so badly that his home was about to be condemned by the City of Wilmington. With the help of Ebanks Construction, LLC, we are in the process of removing the rotten section of the home and putting in new footers. From there, we will rebuild the back wall both inside and out.
A project was well underway for Mary, of Wilmington, to do many small repairs to her home and one larger project to repair the water damaged ceiling in her kitchen from a leaking toilet in the bathroom on the second floor.
Gladys is the primary caretaker of her disabled son, and they live together in her house in Wilmington. Unfortunately, due to unmanageable levels of clutter, her home was in deplorable condition - to the extent that the Wilmington Department of Licenses & Inspections deemed it a fire hazard and issued a citation.
