A 71-year-old senior homeowner received a Citation from the City of Wilmington’s Department of Licenses and Inspections for repairs – replace back door and paint exterior wood surfaces. The senior lacked the finances to make the repairs and received a notice for a City arraignment, trial, suspension of his driving privileges, and/or arrest.
The homeowner was referred to Ingleside Senior Services for assistance with the home repairs. Ingleside contacted DEHOFI who agreed to provide financial assistance; and a general contractor was hired to complete the required repairs. The violations included painting all fascia boards and windows, replacing the back door, and painting the front porch floor; which were corrected within one week and the case has been dismissed.
